So, if you follow me on instagram (happyhopefuls), you might have seen that I recently found out that I miscalculated my maternity leave. It's dumb. Basically I cannot count and unfortunately or fortunately my boss believed my math skills and approved it, only to find out on one of my days off that I actually should've been in the office. What happened?
Well, I had planned out my leave to take what I thought was going to be 7 weeks and then stagger the last week (my 8th week) to gradually come back to the office. Well, apparently I planned for 8 weeks and was staggering a 9th week that I didn't have. Soooooo, I'm going to be going back this week all days and full work days, instead of just Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Luckily, I only took 2 days that I shouldn't have and I also have 2.5 PTO days to use, so I'm just taking them as "unplanned PTO days" and then I'm cleared up on all days off (that I took when I shouldn't have). …
I realize that it's not even Halloween yet and I already want to put up my Christmas tree, but who can blame me. With every year that we celebrate Christmas with our kids it gets more and more exciting. I'm not going to lie. When I started to decorate for fall, I thought about bringing my tree up just to see what it would look like in our living room. I cannot remember if I blogged about this before, but my tree is a 9' skinny pre-light tree that I bought on clearance last year for like $18.00. I'm not kidding. It was a steal and because it'll be the first year using it, I'm so pumped about it. I'll spare you the details of actually buying the tree... almost had to knock a b*&^$ out for trying to buy my tree RIGHT FROM UNDER MY NOSE... okay, I'll stop while I'm ahead of myself.
Anyway, since Halloween is already beginning to feel like Christmas weather, it makes me more and more anxious to get my tree up from downstairs and just start the…
Can you believe you're already 2 months old and your time alone with me at home, is almost over? I cannot believe it either. It's very sad and yet so rewarding to see you grow up so quick.
I don't know if it's because you're the second child or if we just know what to expect this time around, but everything seems to be happening right on cue. You're sleeping through the night with 6 to 7 hour stretches at a time. You wake up for a feeding after about 5 ours and sometimes not until 7 hours of resting. You find sleep on your own and soothe yourself, when we aren't holding you. You make great eye contact and talk up a storm!
You have the sweetest smiles and you are so patient.
You love your big brother, even when he plants a big sloppy kiss on your face, especially when you are least expecting it.
You're stats say that you're in the 63% for weight, 98% for length and 98% for your head circumference. So, you're growing like a w…
Went on a 3 mile walk with out friends. This was the end and you can clearly tell that they are both done and over the stroller (and the picture taking). Good walk though. Felt good and Emie did great.
This kid and laundry baskets... He loves them. Loves throwing clothes out of the basket, back into the basket and just being in the basket. He's a riot.
This was right before Julia & Paul's shower. We were hanging out at home, I was playing with some of my settings and these are the photos I captured. Him and his faces... These children are just so expressive.
And these are just a few shots from the shower. There about 100 more, but I'll spare you those. It was a great fall day with a little wind and a little chill... but it turned out great!
Yes, we do the same scrunchy face. It's because I was trying to get him to smile and we were saying peee-ewwww!
So, my sister and her husband are due to have a baby around Thanksgiving. It's their first and my parent's 3rd grandchild in 17 months. Yep, we're just trying to keep everyone on their toes and we wanted to make sure that Christmas was EXTRA crazy this year.
Anyway, we (did what any non-professional photographer would do and) scoped out Pinterest, got some ideas and then I brought my fancy camera to capture them. I'm not a professional but I do enjoy taking pictures and learning more about how this camera works... that we've spent a lot of money on. It's fun to play and learn.
Now, you have to know that we literally did this in about 15 minutes before their shower was about to start and it wasn't until I got home that I realized that I didn't have very many pictures of their faces. Sorry. Womp womp.... It's all I've got...
So, here goes...
We had a fun time, even though it was super fast... and who doesn't love a fun (corn field) backd…
Hi, my name is Jill and I had two c-sections in 14 months.
Saying that now, seems so funny. I remember having Coen and thinking that I wanted another baby in my life, so fast. I also remember my doctor telling me that I really needed to wait another 6 months before getting pregnant again, just to give my body some time to heal.
Five months later, we were expecting.
Having two c-sections in 14 months was hard. Don't get me wrong... I mean, it's a major surgery! However, this second time around, I really didn't feel as bad as I did with the first. I don't know if it was because I was forced to be active again quickly after being home (and having a toddler that doesn't stop) or if it was because I knew what to expect. Either way, I could tell that by 2 weeks postpartum, I was starting to feel like myself again. Sure, my stomach is sore, my pants don't fit and dressing myself isn't as fun as it could be, but it's better.
Boy, a lot has changed since I last wrote to you. You're 16 months! You are constantly on the move now and it might be a lot more exciting than I thought. Sure, we don't stop but neither do you and that's the fun part. Last night, I let you run around the upstairs, bare bottomed, for fun and you just wanted to run everywhere. I'm pretty sure I was laughing so hard I almost fell over at one point because you were having so much fun.
Your personality is big and bright and your smile is so stinking cute. You laugh when we laugh, you love to have people chase you and you love to get tickled. You still have a HUGE love for books and could spend hours having them read to you or just playing and looking at them. You still don't love watching TV, which we are happy about, but you do enjoy when songs are on the screen so you can dance around. You're obsessed with a patio chair that my parents got for you and you've literally taken it anywhere in o…
