17 weeks | Baby bump

How far along: 17 weeks

How big is baby: The size of an onion. (From the Bump) Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

Weight gain/loss: +8 lbs. But let’s be honest, Girl Scout cookies arrived and I cannot stop myself. Plus, I’m drinking water like crazy. Just retaining some weight. It happens.

Maternity clothes: Not really. Just pants here and there. I still can fit into my big-girl jeans. That’s a big deal!

Stretch marks: Just the leftovers.

Sleep: Sleeping like a dream. It’s amazing. Honestly. I wasn’t sure that it was ever going to change and I was okay with that. Now, I enjoy every minute of shut eye I get and the longer the stretch the better I feel! Thank you Coen. Thank you.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: Just starches, fruits and water. I also crave a good salad from time to time too. Other than that I’m still enjoying food and partake whenever it’s available.

Exercise: I went one a 20 minute walk the other day (which I realize is nothing) but it was the first time that I was home, Coen was awake and happy and that we could just whip the jogging stroller and go out for a walk. So we did!

Gender: Next Thursday we will find out what we’re having and that is only if the little one shows us their goods. If they are anything like Coen, we’ll have to go back another time. So, I’m not holding my breath. Preference on gender?? I don’t like to answer this question to a perfect stranger, because I don’t like to hear the reaction. Honestly, we want a healthy baby. Whatever that means and whatever gender that is… we’ll take it. We just want healthy. Aside from that, I think it would be great to have another boy, only because we have the boy things. Now if we have a girl, that just means that instead of buying a new car, I’ll have to buy a new wardrobe and that will be that… Health before anything else though. Always.

Movement: Nothing that I can really confirm as movement… yet. But I’m not worried. I hardly sit still long enough to have time to feel anything so I know that when it’s really there, I’ll know and I won’t worry. It’s no big deal.

The belly: It’s starting to take shape, as you can see above. Still a little pudgy in some spots, but that will go away.

What I'm loving: This weather. We’re getting 60-80 degree weather in the middle of March and it’s unbelievable. We’re wearing shorts, sleeveless dresses and flip flops.

What I miss: Drinking beers on a patio… And just not able to wear regular clothes. I get frustrated when I get dressed in the morning because I have to dress accordingly so that I don’t look fat and just a little pregnant. That’s a hard line.

Symptoms: Just hungry all the time. Other than that, I’m good. I don’t have the back pain that I was having so I’m glad about that. Unfortunately, I know that it will be back.

The nursery: Our goal is to get that going in about 2 or 3 weeks. I’m excited but we have to really move things around and get rid of a lot before it will really start to look like a nursery. Anyone want to buy a sleigh bed with a mattress set? Kidding.

What's different/the same this time: Having Coen and being completely distracted with him. That’s the biggest difference. Last time I could sit for hours and just wait to feel movement, now I don’t. He’s on the move which results in me being on the move too. It’s seriously so much fun!

What I'm looking forward to: Finding out what we’re having. I’m also looking forward to planning Coen’s birthday party. Some things area already in the works, so I’m starting to get really excited!

Best moment of the week: Watching Coen pull up on just about everything and no longer just to his knees but his feet. It’s so cute! He’s getting so strong!

Next appointment: It’s this coming Thursday! Yeee haw!

that nightmare

Time is passing and permanent/next step decisions AREN'T being made about where our marriage is going.

Not because of anything other than HOPE....

Hope that these changes are real.  I can't deal with an act anymore.  I'm done with those fake attempts.  It just won't work for me.  I can't.

Hope that he really wants to change.  Because he's the only one that can make that decision for himself and not anyone else.

Hope that a new normal is really a possible option.  And not just a glimmer of something that will eventually be shattered and destroyed.

Hope that we could work through all of this and actually land on our feet.  But he has to want to do those things and my guidance won't help him.  He's got to want to do them on his own.  I can't help or ask or guide.  He has to do it.  Alone and with the help of God.

Hope that the narcissistic behaviors are being dealt with in positive ways and won't resurface.  With the help of prayer, guidance from h…

my little model...

There is a blog that I follow of a photographer that I saw at the Delaware County Fair. Her studio is near my home town and her pictures are very vibrant. I enjoy looking at different aspects of photography and I like seeing how didn’t people capture pictures and scenes… I guess you could say I’m envious.

While following her blog, I saw a post that stated Calling All Furry Friends and immediately responded. I have always wanted to have Toby get professional pictures done but I just fear that I wouldn’t pick the right person to capture his personality.

Anyway, as you can read in the link above, there were a handful of photographers at Megan Morgan’s studio and they were all going to be there just to take furry friends pictures.

Of the people that were there two have uploaded their pictures and Toby is in them!

First, Megan Morgan’s blog: Weekend Workshop

Then, Holly McCaig’s blog: Dogs Everywhere

They all captured some great pictures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them so that I …

clomid vs. follistim

(IUI #4)

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "letters, 1", stating:

"what are the statistics on follistim v. clomid or other oral egg-enhancing drugs?"

Before I responded, I went on webmd.com just to make sure I knew what I was talking about.  {Nothing like going through a medical procedure, thinking you know everything and then letting an Anonymous comment send me off my track. ha!}

Disclaimer: I'm not a dr. nor do I want to be a dr.  This is what I understand to be the difference.  This isn't fact, other than the links I'm posting, it's just my understanding.  Please DO NOT take my words for fact.

This is what I knew before I did the research:

Both Clomid and Follistim are ovary stimulating drugs that tell your ovaries to produce eggs.  They are both in the same in that aspect of things.  The physical difference is that Clomid is in pill form and taken orally.  Follistim is powder to liquid that is administrated by a pen/shot.
