it's dipping

After yesterday at work and the amount of milk that I came home with, I decided that I need to try something else to ramp my supply back up.  Yesterday, if I hadn't pumped in the AM before I left for work, I wouldn't have had enough fresh milk for Coen to take to daycare.  I don't know what happened because the last 3 weeks or so, I've had so much milk each day that I've been able to freeze 4 to 8 ounces on top of what I'm able to send to the sitter's house.

So it's dipping.

Last night,  I started taking Fenugreek to hopefully help ramp up my supply.  I took one pill last night, two pills this morning and I plan on taking 3 at lunch and 3 at dinner.  Hopefully by then I'll start to see an increase.  If it doesn't show a difference in the next 3 days, I will also add in a power-hour of pumping for 3 days to see if that will help.  That's what I had to do when I first was home and I thought my milk had dipped.

I understand that not every one is effected by this supplement, but it's worth a try.  If those two options flop, I will be heading out to Whole Foods for some Mother's Milk Tea.  I don't want my supply to dip and at the rate I'm going, I fear that could happen.

Side Note 1: I went running last night and it went well.  I went about as far as I wanted and ran as much as I could.  I feel a little sore today, but can't wait to do it again.  It's good for me and for my body.  I have to keep going!

Side Note 2: I just ordered my iPhone!!!

Hey lady,
My $.02 or $1.00. First, fenugreek + daily oatmeal with crushed flaxseed and brewers yeast helped me with Isaac. I hate oatmeal but I did it then and I'm doing it now. I hope it helps you!

Second, and I HATE to say this, running may not be the best idea right now, in the interest of your supply, unless you're eating the calories to equal out.

Third, as one for basically felt like the world was ending when my supply dipped when I returned to work with Isaac and my Mom did everything in her power to stretch my milk so that we didn't have to supplement . . . formula is not the devil. If Coen gets a little here or there, while you get your body and supply under control, you won't be able to tell when he's 2 1/2 years old. :) I totally understand not wanting to, I just want to pipe up because I felt like the biggest failure in the world knowing I hadn't sent enough milk to last through the day for Isaac. But it was only a matter of two weeks or so and I finally was giving my Mom enough and then, no more formula.

Hope this encourages you! Great job as always lady!

It could be a few things--your body may be responding to how much milk it feels you're prompting it to produce. It could be the running or efforts you're making to eat healthier (I wasn't able to lose any weight while nursing, contrary to many, many people).

Try your regular grocery for the Mother's Milk tea--my Kroger has carried it since before E was born in the organic section.

And yes for oatmeal--I ate it every morning while nursing.

I hope something works for you and you're able to increase your supply again!
Oatmeal TOTALLY works. Fenugreek became a part of my daily life after I returned to work. (I also run three times a week...)

I drink water like it is NO body's business, too. Like CONSTANTLY.

Mother's Milk Tea, in my not-so-humble-opinion, tasted TERRIBLE. And the amount you were supposed to drink in order to increase/maintain a supply you need? Boo. DEFINITELY try The Grumbles oatmeal/guiness cookies.

I third the oatmeal! I also used the Mother's Milk tea and it seemed to help. I also tried to drink TONS of water (more than the usual BFing tons, I guess!) and added in some pumping sessions, and our supply issues cleared up pretty quickly. Good luck!!

that nightmare

Time is passing and permanent/next step decisions AREN'T being made about where our marriage is going.

Not because of anything other than HOPE....

Hope that these changes are real.  I can't deal with an act anymore.  I'm done with those fake attempts.  It just won't work for me.  I can't.

Hope that he really wants to change.  Because he's the only one that can make that decision for himself and not anyone else.

Hope that a new normal is really a possible option.  And not just a glimmer of something that will eventually be shattered and destroyed.

Hope that we could work through all of this and actually land on our feet.  But he has to want to do those things and my guidance won't help him.  He's got to want to do them on his own.  I can't help or ask or guide.  He has to do it.  Alone and with the help of God.

Hope that the narcissistic behaviors are being dealt with in positive ways and won't resurface.  With the help of prayer, guidance from h…

my little model...

There is a blog that I follow of a photographer that I saw at the Delaware County Fair. Her studio is near my home town and her pictures are very vibrant. I enjoy looking at different aspects of photography and I like seeing how didn’t people capture pictures and scenes… I guess you could say I’m envious.

While following her blog, I saw a post that stated Calling All Furry Friends and immediately responded. I have always wanted to have Toby get professional pictures done but I just fear that I wouldn’t pick the right person to capture his personality.

Anyway, as you can read in the link above, there were a handful of photographers at Megan Morgan’s studio and they were all going to be there just to take furry friends pictures.

Of the people that were there two have uploaded their pictures and Toby is in them!

First, Megan Morgan’s blog: Weekend Workshop

Then, Holly McCaig’s blog: Dogs Everywhere

They all captured some great pictures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them so that I …

Starting here..

I know that I haven't really updated this in a long while. I apologize. In the moments it was hard enough to survive, let alone write about it or find time to write about it.

With that said, I've told people over and over again that I'm going to write again, just not sure where to start.
So, today, I'm starting here.
My mom is terminal.
Words that I cannot believe have to leave my mouth or my fingers.
She's been battling Ovarian Cancer for well over 10 years and this last year or 8 months+ have been just the worst.  Her body is being consumed by cancer and with every day that passes we are just another closer to losing her.
She's fought this whole time and continues to beat the odds that the doctors have placed before her. She's set goals and surpassed them and when the doctors say something, it's like she mentally tells herself that it's just NOT going to happen and she flies by those measurable items.
She's been a rock star and I have known …
