Sprout | Week 33

Just typing those words in the title line every week is nuts!  Week 33.  I cannot believe how close the end is... having him here will be an absolutel dream.  I'm still shocked that my body has even accomplished this amazing miracle.

33 weeks 6 days, today 042211

So, how have I been feeling? Pretty good!  This weekend was the true test.  On Sunday, we mulched, I repainted (what?) and we were constantly on the go doing stuff around the house to just crank some things out with the nice weather and before the baby arrives.  Outside of that, my back typically hurts before bed, I'm peeing a lot more, I felt a little "backed up" earlier in the week but that has passed and I'm still swollen at night.  Nothing too major and the swelling, I learned is uncomfortable, but not as bad as it could be.

Weekly Events: Oh and yes, I repainted.  UNFORTUNATELY, we found our nursery paint color from Ace Hardware and had it color matched with Home Depot paint because we had a gift card.  When we went back to get another gallon, we brought our original gallon and had them use the exact formula to make it. Well, it wasn't exact, in the end.  It was off just enough that we (I) had to repaint every wall in the nursery.  It was off just enough, though, that I could paint up to the trim and not have a soul notice.

After the painting, we edged some of the beds, spread mulch through most of our beds and then started to re-construct our front bed to add demension.  It's great to see these things all come together and boy does the fresh mulch look beautiful... but man does my body just not like it when I'm down on my hands and knees spreading mulch.  It just can't do that position very well, especially on concrete for extended periods of time.

After the mulching, we ran to Home Depot and Lowe's to look at a few things that we want to get for our "front bed re-construction" project and just by doing that, my feet were rocked and swollen again.

Saturday was a blast too!  We had our maternity pictures with Britt Lakin and we were so set on the idea of being rained out because it had literally rained the ENTIRE evening.  But, when the morning came, it was sunny and bright and beautiful!  There was still rain in the forecast, but we just chanced it and planned to just beat the rain.  Unforatunately that didn't work out exactly, but we still had a good time!  If you are friends with my on facebook, you might have seen a preview image from Britt.  I had seen that picture when she took it because she thought it was hilarious, but then it was on facebook and it was even more entertaining!  We had the opportunity to take a lot of photos in our nursery and that was really sweet.  We had already prepped for painting, so we didn't have finished nursery picutres done, but that will just have to wait until he's here.

It's so exciting waiting for the images to be returned to us.  Britt is attending this conference to learn more about photography and different techniques from Bobbi + Mike and so it's just putting editing on the back burner.  I think that this opportunity sounds great and I'm excited to know what she's learning!  So, when I have some pictures from our shoot to share with you, I will.

We also had a couples shower on Saturday at our friend's house and boy was that entertaining.  She had games that involved baby items, but were drinking focused.  Hilarious!  I have another post coming on this that will display all of my fabulous pictures of the event.  I'll also post another post on my first shower too!  I'm SLACKING.  After my shower's I've tried to be really good about writting a thank you note before using or opening a product from the shower.  I'm almost 100% caught up.  Now I just need stamps.  One of the first things I opened from our couples shower was a diaper genie.  I don't know why I'm so excited about this, but I am!  It's going to be nice to have this sort of "modern day contraption" around to keep the dirty diapers out of the trash can and away from the animals!  Could you imagine what that might be like... cleaning up a dirty diaper that your dog has gotten into?  Gross.  More posts to come on this, very soon!

The rest of this week, we've stayed pretty productive.  Going to the Dr, a few returns to Babies R Us, other painting around the house, laundry, scheduling of different cleaners to come to our house, lots of reading and even a concert!  It's been a great week, I just wish the weather was warmer.

From the front and not as flattering, but wanted to show you my outfit... 33 weeks 6 days.

Dr. Appointment: I already posted about this, earlier in the week, so I'm just going to send you here to read about it.

The Bump says: Baby's now the size of a honeydew!  Things are heating up inside as well: Baby may grow up to a full inch this week alone, and his brain is developing like crazy. Pretty soon, he'll be able to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing. Also, his bones are hardening, and he's started to keep his eyes open when he's awake.

Baby Center says:   This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Oh and another note... Toby FINALLY got his NEEDED hair cut!  Here he is in all his glory...

Pre-hair cut...

Post- hair cut...

He looks sort of ashamed in the last picture, but really he loves it.  He told us!  Not to mention the fact that we love it too!  Less hair around the house and when it's raining outside, there is less hair to dry before he tears-butt around the house.  He's such a great dog and when he's cut short like this he just seems so much more puppy like.  It's so cute!

Anyway, happy Friday!

that nightmare

Time is passing and permanent/next step decisions AREN'T being made about where our marriage is going.

Not because of anything other than HOPE....

Hope that these changes are real.  I can't deal with an act anymore.  I'm done with those fake attempts.  It just won't work for me.  I can't.

Hope that he really wants to change.  Because he's the only one that can make that decision for himself and not anyone else.

Hope that a new normal is really a possible option.  And not just a glimmer of something that will eventually be shattered and destroyed.

Hope that we could work through all of this and actually land on our feet.  But he has to want to do those things and my guidance won't help him.  He's got to want to do them on his own.  I can't help or ask or guide.  He has to do it.  Alone and with the help of God.

Hope that the narcissistic behaviors are being dealt with in positive ways and won't resurface.  With the help of prayer, guidance from h…

my little model...

There is a blog that I follow of a photographer that I saw at the Delaware County Fair. Her studio is near my home town and her pictures are very vibrant. I enjoy looking at different aspects of photography and I like seeing how didn’t people capture pictures and scenes… I guess you could say I’m envious.

While following her blog, I saw a post that stated Calling All Furry Friends and immediately responded. I have always wanted to have Toby get professional pictures done but I just fear that I wouldn’t pick the right person to capture his personality.

Anyway, as you can read in the link above, there were a handful of photographers at Megan Morgan’s studio and they were all going to be there just to take furry friends pictures.

Of the people that were there two have uploaded their pictures and Toby is in them!

First, Megan Morgan’s blog: Weekend Workshop

Then, Holly McCaig’s blog: Dogs Everywhere

They all captured some great pictures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them so that I …

Starting here..

I know that I haven't really updated this in a long while. I apologize. In the moments it was hard enough to survive, let alone write about it or find time to write about it.

With that said, I've told people over and over again that I'm going to write again, just not sure where to start.
So, today, I'm starting here.
My mom is terminal.
Words that I cannot believe have to leave my mouth or my fingers.
She's been battling Ovarian Cancer for well over 10 years and this last year or 8 months+ have been just the worst.  Her body is being consumed by cancer and with every day that passes we are just another closer to losing her.
She's fought this whole time and continues to beat the odds that the doctors have placed before her. She's set goals and surpassed them and when the doctors say something, it's like she mentally tells herself that it's just NOT going to happen and she flies by those measurable items.
She's been a rock star and I have known …
