Sprout | Diaper Bag Drama

So, it all started with this one.

I bought this one at the first Vera Bradley Outlet sale that I attended almost 3 years ago now.  I bought it because I had the idea of being pregnant in the back of my mind, but also because it was a great bag.  It was a good size and a great price.  My mom and sister loved it so much too, that they bought it as well.  I've had it in my guest room closet since I purchased it and have never used it, in hopes that it would serve as a baby bag one day.

Then, I realized that Vera had a new style out and while I loved the one I had purchase from the outlet, the only major differences between that on and the blue one above was that it had a more plastic lining throughout and it zipped completely shut.  Luckily, it went on sale and my aunt sent it to me when we first found out we were pregnant.

I was over joyed, but the moment I showed both options to my husband, he said, "well, those are nice, but what will I carry?"

Which brings me to this last one. The Skip Hop bag which is pictured a little different than the one we registered for... but it's a great bag.  Big, has a over the body shoulder strap, magnet closures and no Velcro, and MANLY.

At some point, my mom said, "why do you need so many bags?"  My thought was depending on where we are and where we're going, we might need two bags.  Plus, if one gets funky, I want to have a backup for when one of them is being washed.

It seems like a lot, but once he's here and we're packing these bad boys for the sitters and the zoo and a road trip or an overnight stay somewhere, we're going to make good use of them.  I'm looking forward to my shower today to see if I get the last one!  I know my husband will be excited as that will serve as "his bag" for carrying the baby things in while we're out.

Anyway, happy Saturday!!

We have 2 diaper bags - one vera (the newer, full zipper one) and a black "manly" bag, I think it's Eddy Bauer or something?

Anyway - we use them BOTH, definitely. Our black one is a little smaller, and Ryan uses that one if he has Joss out without me, but I also grab that one for quick trips too.

You WILL use them all, I'm sure!

:) We ended up with a boatload of bags, too. We have narrowed it down to 3 and use different ones depending on the occasion. DH's favorite is the one that is like a backpack--it's perfect for when we're out and walking for a long time) so we can still carry the baby and push the stroller and everything else. And whatever you decide with the Vera Bradley ones, you can always carry one as a bigger purse (I've pretty much gotten away from carrying a purse now--we don't need as much baby care, but need more toys!)
Smart girl.
I think we have a total of 4 diaper bags right now and I just bought another one.

The ones we use the most is a fancy/schmancy one I bought that looks like a purse (love it... but sort of small) and a Vera backpack. I can't remember what the fabric is but one of my favorite things about is that my husband will leave the house with one of the girls wearing this pink, floral, Vera backpack. :) He's so proud. Love that.

So all that said - amen sister, you'll need a lot of bags.

all very cute bags but remember you are also going to get a bag at the hospital....if you have a choice pick similac (even if you are breastfeeding they give you a "breastfeeding" bag). they are giving away a really nice 'backpack' type bag that is perfect for dads. my husband loves it!
You can never have too many baby bags! I have two diaper bags, one petunia pickle bottom and one just brown, I still use plus the girls overnight bag by dwell that is for larger trips. My girls are 2 and 4!

I love that you have so many bags! I feel that, when the time comes, this will be me- needing multiple different diaper/baby needs bags for every different occasion/reason/excuse! haah too funny!

that nightmare

Time is passing and permanent/next step decisions AREN'T being made about where our marriage is going.

Not because of anything other than HOPE....

Hope that these changes are real.  I can't deal with an act anymore.  I'm done with those fake attempts.  It just won't work for me.  I can't.

Hope that he really wants to change.  Because he's the only one that can make that decision for himself and not anyone else.

Hope that a new normal is really a possible option.  And not just a glimmer of something that will eventually be shattered and destroyed.

Hope that we could work through all of this and actually land on our feet.  But he has to want to do those things and my guidance won't help him.  He's got to want to do them on his own.  I can't help or ask or guide.  He has to do it.  Alone and with the help of God.

Hope that the narcissistic behaviors are being dealt with in positive ways and won't resurface.  With the help of prayer, guidance from h…

my little model...

There is a blog that I follow of a photographer that I saw at the Delaware County Fair. Her studio is near my home town and her pictures are very vibrant. I enjoy looking at different aspects of photography and I like seeing how didn’t people capture pictures and scenes… I guess you could say I’m envious.

While following her blog, I saw a post that stated Calling All Furry Friends and immediately responded. I have always wanted to have Toby get professional pictures done but I just fear that I wouldn’t pick the right person to capture his personality.

Anyway, as you can read in the link above, there were a handful of photographers at Megan Morgan’s studio and they were all going to be there just to take furry friends pictures.

Of the people that were there two have uploaded their pictures and Toby is in them!

First, Megan Morgan’s blog: Weekend Workshop

Then, Holly McCaig’s blog: Dogs Everywhere

They all captured some great pictures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them so that I …

Starting here..

I know that I haven't really updated this in a long while. I apologize. In the moments it was hard enough to survive, let alone write about it or find time to write about it.

With that said, I've told people over and over again that I'm going to write again, just not sure where to start.
So, today, I'm starting here.
My mom is terminal.
Words that I cannot believe have to leave my mouth or my fingers.
She's been battling Ovarian Cancer for well over 10 years and this last year or 8 months+ have been just the worst.  Her body is being consumed by cancer and with every day that passes we are just another closer to losing her.
She's fought this whole time and continues to beat the odds that the doctors have placed before her. She's set goals and surpassed them and when the doctors say something, it's like she mentally tells herself that it's just NOT going to happen and she flies by those measurable items.
She's been a rock star and I have known …
