Sprout's Route | Week 29

How am I feeling? I'm doing good.  I still have heartburn, my back still hurts from time to time and my bra situation (while improved) is still not 100% perfect. (Emma, if you are reading... the bras you suggested are the ones that I had purchased and now I just have trouble keeping them clean.  So thank you!)

Body Changes {new for this week}: I've noticed over the last 2 weeks and forgot to mention this, but my belly button is starting to stretch out and become more and more flat.  I also noticed this week that my linear line is starting to show up too.  I read a few weeks ago where it should've showed up then but I really didn't start to see it until this week (around Tuesday).  I'm also not experiencing any {knock on WOOD} stretch marks!  I'm lathering my body up with Palmer's Body Butter everyday and I hope that it continues to help prevent them.  Who knows.  Outside of those things, I'm still growing like a weed and feeling him move like a CHAMP.  Some days it's unreal the movement I feel.  It's like he's in there just doing jumping jacks or something.  It's so fun and so surreal.

Movement: All I want to mention here is that Sprout is moving like a CHAMP!  I'm not kidding.  I thought I was feeling movement before, but it was so intermittent that I wasn't always sure... Well that was last week or something.  This week, he's moving like that linebacker and not letting up.  It's so fun to just push and have him push back.  So strange yet so freaking cool.  The best part is that my husband can feel it for real now.  Before, it was like me.  I'd feel the pulse and think it was movement.  Now, we both can feel for sure movement!  It's so fun!

Weight: Along the same lines... I just wanted to say that I'm up 19 pounds from pre-pregnancy up to today.  I'm pretty pleased with that gain (even with a 10 pound gain between my last 3 week appointments).  This last appointment was only 2 weeks from my last and I hadn't gained anything.  I'm very happy about that but know it will all change in the next few weeks.

Clothes: I've decided to not stress about clothes and just do what feels right.  Most of the outfits I wear include something from my normal wardrobe but those items are usually a tank or something that is under a maternity something or other.  However, I write this and I remember that on Wednesday I was wearing ALL normal things!  Crazy!  Here, look...

Proof that it is a dress.. :)

That's a tube top dress that is from Victoria Secret that I bought knowing that it would also double as a skirt sometime too... and being pregnant, it worked out perfect. I wore the orange 1/2 cardigan here and the white tank here in other "fashion" related posts... I don't have a picture of the dress in a "before" picture, but know that it is also a dress.

Weather: It was 60 to 70 degrees from Sunday to about Wednesday, then it hailed so hard that it was dropping hail the size of 1/2 a golf ball.... then it dropped to 32 degrees, started raining, then the rain turned to ice, then it snowed and that was just in about 10 hours.  Thursday came and it was 40 something degrees.  Unbelievable.  I went from wearing the cute spring outfit above to wearing this...

29 weeks 5 days

Disclaimer: Yes, I'm aware that I'm the one with the new DSLR that still takes pictures with my phone in the bathroom with my cell phone at work.  I know.  I'm lame.  I need to get in better practice of this whole picture taking thing!

It's like this a lot of the years and while I'm used to it... I hate it.  Just move onto the next season, already.  Don't go back to where we were, just move forward, darn it!

Dr.'s Appointments: Today was officially my first 2 week appointment.  Every 2 weeks and really that's only for 3 more times and then I'm onto weekly visits!  Seems wild that it's so close, but it is.  This last appointment was a bit messy.  They have a new electronic charting system that doesn't seem to like my name much because it's a magnet for the wrong information and that's awfully annoying to me and to my dr.  So, this time around, I wanted to know about my glucose test, my blood test results, hear the heartbeat and then know that I'm measuring on schedule.  It took a few conversations with the nurses and my dr.... and this is what I know.

  • Heartbeat was 148 and loud!  It sounded like a horse this time and that was pretty cool!
  • I passed my glucose test with a 81 and she said their cut off is 140, so that's really good. I couldn't imagine what the 5 hours test might look like and I'm glad I don't have to experience that!
  • I'm measuring just ahead of 29 weeks, so that's pretty awesome too!
  • And my blood test results were MIA.  They are supposed to call me about them.
All in all a good visit and I had nothing to really ask her about this week.  My heartburn is still around, but not completely unmanageable.  So, it's all good and I'm so glad!

My update email from Baby Center for Week 29, says this:

Your baby is growing rapidly now. This week he weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain – which is busy developing billions of neurons. Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby's skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester.

And my "The Bump" email says this:

Baby's now the size of a squash!
Baby's energy is surging, thanks to white fat depositing beneath his skin. And since he's growing so fast (weight will triple by birth), things are getting kind of cramped in the womb. What all this means for you: Get ready for some more kicks and jabs to the ribs.

Tonight, OSU plays against KY and while I'm looking forward to it, the game time is 9:45pm!!  This game will do a lot for my bracket if OSU wins (which is what I would want regardless), so just that gives me a little more motivation to actually stay up for the whole thing!!

Last thing... My first shower is in a week and I'm getting so so so so excited about it finally arriving!  Seemed like it would take forever and now it's almost here!  So, with that I've cut myself from buying all things baby until I have a shower.  I've done enough damage so I'll stop while I'm ahead!

that nightmare

Time is passing and permanent/next step decisions AREN'T being made about where our marriage is going.

Not because of anything other than HOPE....

Hope that these changes are real.  I can't deal with an act anymore.  I'm done with those fake attempts.  It just won't work for me.  I can't.

Hope that he really wants to change.  Because he's the only one that can make that decision for himself and not anyone else.

Hope that a new normal is really a possible option.  And not just a glimmer of something that will eventually be shattered and destroyed.

Hope that we could work through all of this and actually land on our feet.  But he has to want to do those things and my guidance won't help him.  He's got to want to do them on his own.  I can't help or ask or guide.  He has to do it.  Alone and with the help of God.

Hope that the narcissistic behaviors are being dealt with in positive ways and won't resurface.  With the help of prayer, guidance from h…

my little model...

There is a blog that I follow of a photographer that I saw at the Delaware County Fair. Her studio is near my home town and her pictures are very vibrant. I enjoy looking at different aspects of photography and I like seeing how didn’t people capture pictures and scenes… I guess you could say I’m envious.

While following her blog, I saw a post that stated Calling All Furry Friends and immediately responded. I have always wanted to have Toby get professional pictures done but I just fear that I wouldn’t pick the right person to capture his personality.

Anyway, as you can read in the link above, there were a handful of photographers at Megan Morgan’s studio and they were all going to be there just to take furry friends pictures.

Of the people that were there two have uploaded their pictures and Toby is in them!

First, Megan Morgan’s blog: Weekend Workshop

Then, Holly McCaig’s blog: Dogs Everywhere

They all captured some great pictures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them so that I …

Starting here..

I know that I haven't really updated this in a long while. I apologize. In the moments it was hard enough to survive, let alone write about it or find time to write about it.

With that said, I've told people over and over again that I'm going to write again, just not sure where to start.
So, today, I'm starting here.
My mom is terminal.
Words that I cannot believe have to leave my mouth or my fingers.
She's been battling Ovarian Cancer for well over 10 years and this last year or 8 months+ have been just the worst.  Her body is being consumed by cancer and with every day that passes we are just another closer to losing her.
She's fought this whole time and continues to beat the odds that the doctors have placed before her. She's set goals and surpassed them and when the doctors say something, it's like she mentally tells herself that it's just NOT going to happen and she flies by those measurable items.
She's been a rock star and I have known …
