Sprout's Route | Week 24

How am I feeling? Well, fortunately, I'm not sick.  I thought for a minute that I was going to get sick again because my husband wasn't feeling well....  But it passed us by and we're doing just fine.  I have a little mucus build up but that's nothing compared to what I was dealing with so I'm fine with it.

Over the last week or so, I've noticed that I need extra lumbar support when sitting down and when I sit on the couch, it's ULTRA necessary.  My back, if not properly supported, hurts and then that dissipates to my sciatic nerve and then I'm just rocked.  I've also noticed that if I DON'T sleep with that pillow between my legs, it's really hard on my body.  I'm getting to the point where I think I'm just going to break down and buy the body pillow, but I'm just not sure I want to make that commitment just yet.  Being in my 24 week, I just thought that I would swing through the rest of this as I have, but I don't know if that is fair on my body or the baby.

As for my bump, it's growing and becoming more and more noticeable to the outside world.  It's sort of fun to continue to have this happen because different people are noticing and that makes me feel good.  Like I had said before, I had extra weight on my that I didn't need or want from the beginning of this pregnancy and before.  My extra weight is mostly located in my legs and spread thinly throughout the rest of my body.  My stomach was never a place that I really gained extra weight, so what is now a bump, is all baby.  I didn't have but a little pudge that it pushed through, but if you look at my belly now, it's solid baby.  Very fun.

Clothes: Still doing the same thing.  Maternity pants (except for 1 regular pair) and mostly regular tops with a few maternity options mixed in.  My husband and I went to Destination Maternity on Saturday (he came along but quickly got bored and went to a more manly shop while I looked for bargains)... It was a good trip.  Trying on maternity jeans wasn't as comforting as I thought it might be.  Sizing is just as messed up for regular jeans as it is for maternity jeans and that's not fun for anyone.  So after about 10 pairs, I walked out with ones that I was most comfortable with, plus they were full panel, which is a dream... sort of.  While it is nice to wear these jeans and just a top over them, I cannot tell you how much time I spend pulling these bad boys up all the time.  I didn't want something really tight against my body and I wanted to be able to grow into them, but seriously... can't you just sit on my hips and stay there?  Darn it!

Food: Bottom line, I cannot do red onions.  The smell is repulsive and eating them is even worse.  I've made a few things with them in them recently and I find myself eating a pb&j instead of what I've just made.  Not fun.

This week's events: As I said before, we did go out for Valentine's day!  We went to dinner with another couple that we've hung out with a few times.  My husband works with the husband and have a hilarious friendship.  Dinner was awesome and after dinner, we went to a bar where I had a fantastic root beer float!  Valentine's day isn't really big in our house, but I do enjoy it more and more every year.  This year we spent a lot of time together, and I really liked just being still and together.

Aside from that, I had a busy week at work and it continues to be that way, but that's good!  The weather has been wonderful and continues to look great.  We know that it's just a tease and won't be around long.  Either way, we're enjoying it and that's all that matters.

From the Baby Center:  Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

When I was first became pregnant and had to start wearing maternity clothes I thought that the full panel shorts/pants/etc were so ugly and who would wear something like that...well I couldnt live without the full panel at the end of my pregnancy. It was a must and oh so comfortable. Full panel all the way!!
Love reading these updates... and yes, the full-panel is FANTASTIC... except if you live in the land of 90-degree heat. I hated them during my first [summer] pregnancy and ADORED them during my [fall/winter] pregnancy.

that nightmare

Time is passing and permanent/next step decisions AREN'T being made about where our marriage is going.

Not because of anything other than HOPE....

Hope that these changes are real.  I can't deal with an act anymore.  I'm done with those fake attempts.  It just won't work for me.  I can't.

Hope that he really wants to change.  Because he's the only one that can make that decision for himself and not anyone else.

Hope that a new normal is really a possible option.  And not just a glimmer of something that will eventually be shattered and destroyed.

Hope that we could work through all of this and actually land on our feet.  But he has to want to do those things and my guidance won't help him.  He's got to want to do them on his own.  I can't help or ask or guide.  He has to do it.  Alone and with the help of God.

Hope that the narcissistic behaviors are being dealt with in positive ways and won't resurface.  With the help of prayer, guidance from h…

my little model...

There is a blog that I follow of a photographer that I saw at the Delaware County Fair. Her studio is near my home town and her pictures are very vibrant. I enjoy looking at different aspects of photography and I like seeing how didn’t people capture pictures and scenes… I guess you could say I’m envious.

While following her blog, I saw a post that stated Calling All Furry Friends and immediately responded. I have always wanted to have Toby get professional pictures done but I just fear that I wouldn’t pick the right person to capture his personality.

Anyway, as you can read in the link above, there were a handful of photographers at Megan Morgan’s studio and they were all going to be there just to take furry friends pictures.

Of the people that were there two have uploaded their pictures and Toby is in them!

First, Megan Morgan’s blog: Weekend Workshop

Then, Holly McCaig’s blog: Dogs Everywhere

They all captured some great pictures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them so that I …

Starting here..

I know that I haven't really updated this in a long while. I apologize. In the moments it was hard enough to survive, let alone write about it or find time to write about it.

With that said, I've told people over and over again that I'm going to write again, just not sure where to start.
So, today, I'm starting here.
My mom is terminal.
Words that I cannot believe have to leave my mouth or my fingers.
She's been battling Ovarian Cancer for well over 10 years and this last year or 8 months+ have been just the worst.  Her body is being consumed by cancer and with every day that passes we are just another closer to losing her.
She's fought this whole time and continues to beat the odds that the doctors have placed before her. She's set goals and surpassed them and when the doctors say something, it's like she mentally tells herself that it's just NOT going to happen and she flies by those measurable items.
She's been a rock star and I have known …
