These are too cute, but would be even cuter if they were taller and bigger.  I'd put them on my porch if I could but these are just baby ones, so the mantel would be a perfect spot for them!

You can find them here at Retro Pop's shop on etsy.

Happy Thanksgiving...

From me to you...
I want to wish you a very happy and safe Thanksgiving!
I don't know where you'll be or who you'll be dining with, but I hope you enjoy yourself and remember to be thankful for all of the things in your life.

Side Note: I hope to blog during the break, but let's be honest... I've already bombed the NaBloPoMo and I'm going to be hosting 6 of my family members all weekend.  So, while I'd love to say that I'm going to get some alone time to just blog, I'm not sure that's really going to happen.  So... blog on, if you will and I'll read them after the holiday.

getting my brine on...

Tonight, I'm going to get my turkey bring on...

I'm not really excited about finding the neck and guts, but it's just part of the job.

This will just make for another great turkey!

15 people again this year!  Yahooo!

Wish me luck, please.

FAIL

I can't keep up and it's been like 3 days since I posted...

So I'm just going to mark this one with a big ole' FAIL!

Darn it!

bon fire

For S's birthday... we had a bon fire!  It was at my parent's house and even though it was October 25, the weather was like 65/70 and amazing... as you can tell by Paul and his short sleeved shirt!

This is S... showing his excitement about celebrating his birthday.  I don't know why exactly, but he's not a really big fan of celebrating being another year older.  I think it's because his family didn't really make a big deal of birthdays when they were growing up and as a result he doesn't really want to do anything now... It's sad because my family loves birthdays and any reason to get together... they also love giving gifts and making a big deal of someone's birthday.  S is learning to love this but about 9 years into the our relationship and he's still not 100% on board with it yet...  Don't get me wrong, he appreciates the attention and things, but feels that it's not necessary.  That it's just another day...

Christmas gifts...

I'm still waiting to write my post about our dear family dog that passed away in October.  I haven't come to grips with it enough to hash out all of the details yet, but I will...

In similar news, with Christmas around the corner, I've decided to do an assortment of photo related items as Christmas gifts.  I got their little flyer in the mail the other day and then I saw this link in a friends post and decided to join along...

That link above allows for bloggers to receive 50 free holiday cards!  Hello!  That's easy!  Just click, sign up and post about it!

I'm loving this calendar and hope to create a few of these for gifts and my sister and I hope to put together a few photo books so that we can all remember our moments with Buddy.  My mom always thought that it would be a good idea for us to create these photo books instead of printing photos and putting them into books.  I've used Shutterfly in the past to do this but I need to become more regular about doin…

This might be too bright for some, but personally, I think it's perfect!  Love the colors and how festive it is! Makes me want a girl so that I can dress them up in something like this...

pumpkin carving

Our friends have an "annual" gathering to carve pumpkins and now that they live in the ville, we were included.  And, we had a blast.

It was really an unplanned day but everything worked out perfectly.

The boys went golfing in the morning while M and I went to the farmers market (that was actually really pathetic that day) and then onto a coffee/donut shop.  Then we went our separate ways and we met back up for lunch at our house with the guys and we watched the game.  This was when I decided to paint stripes in my bathroom... It's my house, sorry boys, use the upstairs bathroom.

After the game and some corn hole, we parted ways, took naps and then met back at M & B's house for dinner and pumpkin carving...

As M stated in her blog post about this night, our goal was to use a template, but to draw it free hand and then carve your creation.  You didn't have to use on, but you could.

And here's how it went down...

stripes

So, I realized last night as I was uploading these pictures that I don't have an "after" picture of the stripes.  But hopefully you'll get the idea and just picture it... I might post one some day, just not today.
This is about the day I decided to paint stripes in our 1/2 bath....

I tried very hard to search the internet for every tip that I could find to make this process go smoothly.  I even had a laser level that I thought was going to be the cure all for the entire project.  Boy was I wrong.  That thing was a joke.  I ended up using a long ruler-like level that worked like a dream.

I bought the green painting tape and I don't know if it worked any better than the blue painteres tape, I just know that it worked.  It was a little dizzy doing those stripes in a small space, but I'm glad that I started there.  I couldn't imagine doing them in a bigger room now.  Too much work.

The one thing that I knew but totally forgot in the process is...

Pumpkin Farm...

In effort to actually go apple picking this year... we ran out of days and then before we knew it, the apple picking was over.  So, we went to a pumpkin patch/farm instead.  It's a place that we went when we were in grade school but I don't remember that.
It was a nice time with the fam...  We walked around the grounds for a bit, then we had lunch at their deli and headed back to the pumpkin patch for a little fun...
This is a man making apple butter, YUM!

Check out that corn stalk horse?  Cow? And my brother and mom next to it... crazy what they can create out of just about anything.

There were lots of families there and I think we might have been the oldest family there without and little kids, but that's okay.  We still like to enjoy the holidays with or without little ones.  We have each other and that's what matters the most.

As you can tell, some of the members of our family were ready for this pictures and others were not... AND some of us got ice cream and o…

cabin

Our friend's parents own a cabin that is about 2 hours from our house.  We don't live a very hilly state so when I say that it's on the tallest hill in the county... for us, it's like we're on a mountain.  Anyway, every fall for the last 2 falls, we have gone out for a football gathering and the participate in a charity volleyball tournament.  This year, we were right in time for the leaves to be changing and the weather to still be really nice!

Here we are.  Well, most of us... some came and went but this is the group who was there for most of the time...

Here are the boys off to have a good time riding up and down the "hills" on the property... As they left, we could hear yelling and screaming and thought for sure we'd see them all walking back up the hill after tipping that gator, but luckily that didn't happen.

A little fall picture of us...

Our good friends and the friends whose parents own the cabin...

And for humor sake... Here is Tristan t…

transparent

I know I can be pretty transparent and I know that I like to write this blog for myself and to serve as a memory bank for myself... but today, I'm turning to you.

What have I left off?  What would you like to know?  What haven't I talked about that you want to know more about?  Tell me!

Thankfulness...

Today, I'm thankful for my husband.

For standing by my side when I make life hard.  For understanding me in my crazy moments.  For loving me unconditionally.

I'm thankful to have him in my life and wouldn't want anyone else.

Guac

I have a special love for guac.  There really isn't any quac that I've met that I don't love... And while I have a great recipe to make it, I would almost always prefer to buy it.  I mean, It's fun to make, but who doesn't love something that taste great that you didn't have to spend time making!?!

Which brings me to the main reason for this post...

Chipotle's Guac.

I'm not lying when I say that this might possibly be the BEST guac EVER.  I'm not kidding either.  In fact, I'm so in the mood for it that I'm going to run and get some for my lunch today just to enjoy it!
Found on Google Images... forgot link... Not my photo... Here's a link that I thought was interesting.  I think I've posted things like this before, but it's been some time now... Anyway, the Chipotle F.an Recipe site!  Seriously, it's like a gold mine!

Beautiful!

I'm off to get my guac.... Happy Tuesday!
