sparkling faucets

Alright, so here's the scoop.

My neighbor and I were at our wits end. We weren't making ends meet on the cleaning end of things and our houses just needed a little more love that we didn't want to give. We both had thrown around the idea of hiring someone local to clean our houses but nothing ever came around. Then, while she was talking about it one day with her sister in law she found out that her mother cleaned and was looking for some new business. Great! Just what we needed and it fell into our laps. What more could we ask?!?

So individually, we had her over to our houses to talk about what we'd like done and how often. From there she set up a schedule, had the garage code and off she went. I'd leave a check, she'd come to clean and my house would be done when I got home, everyother week.

Well, within the first couple of times, we were still getting adjusted to how she did things and how I would prefer them to be done.

For instances, wiping the bathroom mirror, or any mirror for that matter with the same rag that looked be the was the same one that she used on the floor. The reason for this being a problem is not only is it transfering germs in a bathroom for instance, but also we have animals and dust. Those things were all OVER the mirrors. In my opinion, when a mirror is cleaned, you shouldn't even see the streak marks. Clearly this wasn't her idea of clean.

So we went back and forth about a couple of things and when it came down to it, I ended up having to call her because things were being done one way, one week and then not even touched or done completely different another week. We talked and I thought we were good to go.

My biggest concern was aside from the vaccum lines in the carpet, I couldn't really tell that she had been there.

How could I tell?

My faucets weren't sprakling.

So as awful as it sounded, along with my normal list of things for that set of weeks(and use windex & paper towels on the mirrors/windows), I would also have to write, "please make ALL faucets sparkle", so that she would actually do it.

Unfortunately for me, my lists got to be a little rediculous so I'm pretty sure she just threw them out because my faucets never sparkled when I walked in after her cleaning.

Our house guests, however, don't need any guidance and she does it! It's dreamy.

Am I the only one that gets turned on by a sparkling faucet? Tell me I'm not alone.

{Our cleaning lady doesn't clean for us any longer because she had a horrible accident on the way home from cleaning our houses. She's alive and healing but hasn't been able to clean since her accident. She also doesn't want to drive now as a result. She was a sweet lady but no one will clean the way you would... bottom line. I'd never had a cleaning lady to know and now I do. Note to self.}

a sparkling clean granite countertops are what turns me on.

Sometimes, late at night, I'll clean it, turn off the over-head lights, stand in the doorway and just watch the under counter lights bounce off it's reflective surface. [swoon]

So I totally get the sparkling faucet thing ;)

I tried a cleaning service, with 4 girls in my rather (at the time) small house. When I came home, it looked like they didn't do much. So they never returned, per my request.

Then I hired a lady who cleans for my MIL in my now-house. She can't clean the entire house, but she does all but 4 bedrooms. She's here for 3 hours and let me tell you, EVERYTHING SPARKLES WHEN SHE'S DONE. There is not a dog hair to be found (how she gets them all off the couch, I'll never know.... I think she uses an uber-expensive vacuum.) Anyway, I say, those people are out there.... ones who clean even BETTER than you clean (which for myself I didn't think was possible.)

If anyone lives on the east side of Cleveland, this lady is taking new clients. :)

Keep looking, I say. Maybe get references next time?

You're not the only one that has a "sparkling faucet" fetish. I was cleaning the bathrooms this morning and couldn't be finished until the mirrors were spot and streak free and the faucets were glimmering. I'm glad to not feel like such a geek anymore! :o)

that nightmare

Time is passing and permanent/next step decisions AREN'T being made about where our marriage is going.

Not because of anything other than HOPE....

Hope that these changes are real.  I can't deal with an act anymore.  I'm done with those fake attempts.  It just won't work for me.  I can't.

Hope that he really wants to change.  Because he's the only one that can make that decision for himself and not anyone else.

Hope that a new normal is really a possible option.  And not just a glimmer of something that will eventually be shattered and destroyed.

Hope that we could work through all of this and actually land on our feet.  But he has to want to do those things and my guidance won't help him.  He's got to want to do them on his own.  I can't help or ask or guide.  He has to do it.  Alone and with the help of God.

Hope that the narcissistic behaviors are being dealt with in positive ways and won't resurface.  With the help of prayer, guidance from h…

my little model...

There is a blog that I follow of a photographer that I saw at the Delaware County Fair. Her studio is near my home town and her pictures are very vibrant. I enjoy looking at different aspects of photography and I like seeing how didn’t people capture pictures and scenes… I guess you could say I’m envious.

While following her blog, I saw a post that stated Calling All Furry Friends and immediately responded. I have always wanted to have Toby get professional pictures done but I just fear that I wouldn’t pick the right person to capture his personality.

Anyway, as you can read in the link above, there were a handful of photographers at Megan Morgan’s studio and they were all going to be there just to take furry friends pictures.

Of the people that were there two have uploaded their pictures and Toby is in them!

First, Megan Morgan’s blog: Weekend Workshop

Then, Holly McCaig’s blog: Dogs Everywhere

They all captured some great pictures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them so that I …

Starting here..

I know that I haven't really updated this in a long while. I apologize. In the moments it was hard enough to survive, let alone write about it or find time to write about it.

With that said, I've told people over and over again that I'm going to write again, just not sure where to start.
So, today, I'm starting here.
My mom is terminal.
Words that I cannot believe have to leave my mouth or my fingers.
She's been battling Ovarian Cancer for well over 10 years and this last year or 8 months+ have been just the worst.  Her body is being consumed by cancer and with every day that passes we are just another closer to losing her.
She's fought this whole time and continues to beat the odds that the doctors have placed before her. She's set goals and surpassed them and when the doctors say something, it's like she mentally tells herself that it's just NOT going to happen and she flies by those measurable items.
She's been a rock star and I have known …
