Weekdays, 8 to 5

In my Bueller? post, where I asked you to ask me anything to help spice up this lame blog, I'm now following up with you about the answers to your questions.

From both Anonymous and SassyTimes, the questions was:

What is your profession/occupation/what do you do?

Usually, when talking about my job and my tasks that I tackle daily, I like to rephrase that question and ask, "what don't I do?"

My job title is a lot more complex and fancy, I enjoy it but it's just a lot of fluff. My title is, Director of Administration & Contract Manager. Otherwise known as an Office Manager in most offices. Personally, that's easier to say and explain than the official title.

So, what do I do?

I like to tell people that I'm really the go to person for just about everything in our office. If I can't help you, I know who to direct you to that will help you accomplish whatever you need.

I've been at this company for almost 3 years and as my boss puts it, I have become the "traffic cop" or "information filter" for our office. I have a lot of duties that require me to multi-task like I've never multi-tasked before. It's great.

Alright, so what else?

I'm the hub for all incoming faxes to our office. We have our main office that I work from as well as 8 remote offices. All faxes come to me and I save, attach and distribute hourly.

I assist the financial department by sending invoices to clients and following up with data entry pieces to help complete our billing graphs.

All contracts, executed or not, come through me.

Oh, what does our company do, you're probably wondering that, right? Well, we're a consulting firm or a recruiting office for nurse executives for hospitals nationwide. We offer a great service that is much more complex than just consulting or recruiting. It's a great company to work for and I'm very thankful to be employed by them.

I also assist the IT department with various tasks. I help administrate the phone system which is all computerized. I set up extension, create call reports, help set up voice mails, train new staff, and become the go-to person, aside from our IT director for questions regarding the phone system.

I plan, coordinate, and host all of our company events. This is just something that comes naturally and luckily I really enjoy it! We have about 3 to 4 company events per year which is enough that I know what I'm doing but I'm not having to plan something all the time. We put on a great party too! We like to think that we work hard and party harder.

I schedule 85% of the travel for the company. Flights and cars mostly. This can be really challenging because our consultants usually will be requested to fly on a very short notice. We get it done and because it comes through me, most likely, I'll get them the best combination for the best price.

I order all supplies for the office including cleaning, bathroom, kitchen, office, party supplies, shower gifts, flowers, birthday celebration items and educational/books. It's nice to have this all come through one person otherwise it would be a complete cluster F.

I'm also a personal assistant to the COO and the CEO of the company. They are a husband and wife team that have a great company.

Listing these things out makes it seem like I don't have a lot going on but I do have a lot of odd and end jobs that I do that change from hour to hour, day to day, week to week and month to month.

Why haven't I been blogging much lately?

Well, to be blunt, I didn't want to loose my job. Our company is just suffering a bit lately. We aren't bringing in as many contracts as we are capable of. Two weeks ago we let 4 people go because they either weren't performing or they were admin/staff that we couldn't afford to pay for the job that they were doing. Everyone was put on the line. We all were unsure of what the next day might bring for us. We are all working our butts off and trying very hard to increase our billings and our company in the process.

I haven't been blogging much because I'm very busy during the day and when I take a lunch break, I'm usually working through it just to get things done. Because of the layoffs I've acquired some new duties that are consuming my time and fill my entire day. Personally, I love it. It's really been a great addition to my current work load. So when I go home at night, I just want to relax and chill away from the computer. I have a million things that I would love to write about but I just haven't found the time to let those things come out quite as I would like them.

So, in a few more words, that's my resume. LOL, not really but it seems like that's what I just wrote. So, that's what I do.

that nightmare

Time is passing and permanent/next step decisions AREN'T being made about where our marriage is going.

Not because of anything other than HOPE....

Hope that these changes are real.  I can't deal with an act anymore.  I'm done with those fake attempts.  It just won't work for me.  I can't.

Hope that he really wants to change.  Because he's the only one that can make that decision for himself and not anyone else.

Hope that a new normal is really a possible option.  And not just a glimmer of something that will eventually be shattered and destroyed.

Hope that we could work through all of this and actually land on our feet.  But he has to want to do those things and my guidance won't help him.  He's got to want to do them on his own.  I can't help or ask or guide.  He has to do it.  Alone and with the help of God.

Hope that the narcissistic behaviors are being dealt with in positive ways and won't resurface.  With the help of prayer, guidance from h…

my little model...

There is a blog that I follow of a photographer that I saw at the Delaware County Fair. Her studio is near my home town and her pictures are very vibrant. I enjoy looking at different aspects of photography and I like seeing how didn’t people capture pictures and scenes… I guess you could say I’m envious.

While following her blog, I saw a post that stated Calling All Furry Friends and immediately responded. I have always wanted to have Toby get professional pictures done but I just fear that I wouldn’t pick the right person to capture his personality.

Anyway, as you can read in the link above, there were a handful of photographers at Megan Morgan’s studio and they were all going to be there just to take furry friends pictures.

Of the people that were there two have uploaded their pictures and Toby is in them!

First, Megan Morgan’s blog: Weekend Workshop

Then, Holly McCaig’s blog: Dogs Everywhere

They all captured some great pictures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them so that I …

Starting here..

I know that I haven't really updated this in a long while. I apologize. In the moments it was hard enough to survive, let alone write about it or find time to write about it.

With that said, I've told people over and over again that I'm going to write again, just not sure where to start.
So, today, I'm starting here.
My mom is terminal.
Words that I cannot believe have to leave my mouth or my fingers.
She's been battling Ovarian Cancer for well over 10 years and this last year or 8 months+ have been just the worst.  Her body is being consumed by cancer and with every day that passes we are just another closer to losing her.
She's fought this whole time and continues to beat the odds that the doctors have placed before her. She's set goals and surpassed them and when the doctors say something, it's like she mentally tells herself that it's just NOT going to happen and she flies by those measurable items.
She's been a rock star and I have known …
