On this day, 5 years ago, around this hour, I was more than likely headed to the hair salon to get my hair done with my girls. My husband was probably drinking beers and watching basketball, as that is what boys do during this month, right?

Thinking back on the 5 years that we have been married and the 3 years prior that we were dating & engaged, it's amazing how time has passed. I remember when we first were married and my friend had been married for 5 years and thinking that was such a long time! Now, we're here and it just feels like time has flown by.

Throughout our 5 years, we have had our share of ups and downs, aside from trying to conceive. We've stuck through, stayed strong and grown together through everything. Sure there were moments when we were at each other's throats about things but we grew from those moments and continue to do that daily, as a team.

We are just that, a team. We feed off of one another, we make each other laugh, we can express pain, sadness, and love to one another. We don't like being without one another but understand independent time. We support each other when we are struggling or being successful. And for those that know us, know, that we make a great team.

My dh has the ability to make me laugh until I cry, impersonate a number of characters that are just hilarious, quote thousands of movies, and make up lyrics to any song to make them as crude as possible.

He's dealt with me through all of our fertility issues and although my hormones are off the charts sometimes, he's still there, standing there, holding my hand {even though it's sweaty}, tell me that it's going to work, and we'll get through it together. He was there with me when we lost Oscar {our kitty that died tragically} and held me when I cried for days. He was there when I found out my mom was diagnosed with cancer, through her chemos, her dr.'s appointments, phone calls, surgery and her recovery. He's constantly there for me, always there for me to lean on.

I love him more than I ever thought I could love someone. On this day, we are planning on visiting the site where we had our wedding reception and enjoying a romantic dinner. Sweet, right?

Then, in true Clark fashion we are going to meet some friends out to enjoy some adult beverages and watch the Buckeyes play basketball. I know, romantic. Sorry ladies, he's spoken for, don't be jealous.

So, here's the church on our wedding day...

My sister, dad, me and my mom downstairs before...

My dad and brother hanging out before everything got started...

My dad and I walking down the aisle {getting teary eyed}...

And we sealed the ceremony with a kiss...

So, here's to forever, babe! Cheers!

He's taken you say? Damn it!

I remember that church. Two great memories:

1. After the rehearsal, I had to skip the dinner. I projectile puked in the McD's parking lot of the airport. Sorry drive thru lady.

2. Before the dudes came out for the ceremony, someone cut the cheese something fierce... we were all cracking up on the walk to the front of the church...

Good times. I love you guys.

Two things that went wrong that I forgot the mention...

1. The bagpiper that we hired for our ceremony music was also a detective. The night before/early morning before our wedding, the Columbus sniper was caught. Our bagpiper was called in to do his job and sent 3 other pipers to fill in. While that was all swell and dandy... they didn't have a clue as to what songs we wanted played or when they should be played. Perfect, right?

2. Also, when the pipers were leaving down the aisle, they tried to knock over every one of the candle/wrought iron stands that were on the aisle ways... On was hit so hard that the candle spun around spewing wax all over one of dh’s long time high school friends. Luckily this apparently happens from time to time at the church, so the coordinator was all over it. She said, go to the hotel, get a brown paper bag and an iron. That should do it.

Good times…

I remember that day, mostly because I was the last one to sleep with the bride before she got married! Remember driving around in my Civic? Poor thin's totalled now but those were good memories. I feel honored to have been included in that special day. Congrats on 5 years!

Happy, happy (belated) anniversary!!! Who can believe it's been five years already?? Hope you had a great celebration! You also forgot to mention how we made up half your bustle with safety pins! Oh, and it's not SO romantic, but I'm sad that the crazy photo of us dancing didn't make the post... Maybe for anni #6...

that nightmare

Time is passing and permanent/next step decisions AREN'T being made about where our marriage is going.

Not because of anything other than HOPE....

Hope that these changes are real.  I can't deal with an act anymore.  I'm done with those fake attempts.  It just won't work for me.  I can't.

Hope that he really wants to change.  Because he's the only one that can make that decision for himself and not anyone else.

Hope that a new normal is really a possible option.  And not just a glimmer of something that will eventually be shattered and destroyed.

Hope that we could work through all of this and actually land on our feet.  But he has to want to do those things and my guidance won't help him.  He's got to want to do them on his own.  I can't help or ask or guide.  He has to do it.  Alone and with the help of God.

Hope that the narcissistic behaviors are being dealt with in positive ways and won't resurface.  With the help of prayer, guidance from h…

my little model...

There is a blog that I follow of a photographer that I saw at the Delaware County Fair. Her studio is near my home town and her pictures are very vibrant. I enjoy looking at different aspects of photography and I like seeing how didn’t people capture pictures and scenes… I guess you could say I’m envious.

While following her blog, I saw a post that stated Calling All Furry Friends and immediately responded. I have always wanted to have Toby get professional pictures done but I just fear that I wouldn’t pick the right person to capture his personality.

Anyway, as you can read in the link above, there were a handful of photographers at Megan Morgan’s studio and they were all going to be there just to take furry friends pictures.

Of the people that were there two have uploaded their pictures and Toby is in them!

First, Megan Morgan’s blog: Weekend Workshop

Then, Holly McCaig’s blog: Dogs Everywhere

They all captured some great pictures and I can’t wait to get my hands on them so that I …

Starting here..

I know that I haven't really updated this in a long while. I apologize. In the moments it was hard enough to survive, let alone write about it or find time to write about it.

With that said, I've told people over and over again that I'm going to write again, just not sure where to start.
So, today, I'm starting here.
My mom is terminal.
Words that I cannot believe have to leave my mouth or my fingers.
She's been battling Ovarian Cancer for well over 10 years and this last year or 8 months+ have been just the worst.  Her body is being consumed by cancer and with every day that passes we are just another closer to losing her.
She's fought this whole time and continues to beat the odds that the doctors have placed before her. She's set goals and surpassed them and when the doctors say something, it's like she mentally tells herself that it's just NOT going to happen and she flies by those measurable items.
She's been a rock star and I have known …
