scenes and things... Part II

Continued...

Numbers 21 through 35:

21. Feeding baby birds blueberries in our front yard but the big tree.

22. Riding my bike to subway and the pool and back, by myself at age 14.

23. Watching the Lawrence Welk Show in my grandma & grandpa's living room with my sister, Cassy and (sometimes) my brother.

24. Sneaking upstairs in my Mamawa & Daddady's kitchen to get dinner rolls or biscuits from the bun warmer.

25. Learning how to drive a stick shift and rolling all the way down the end of a hill on our road and still not being able to get the hang of it. Tony Luzio pulled up behind me as I was coasting down the hill and had to go around because I wasn't making any progress.

26. Flying in a plane, for the first time together with Mr. Hope.

27. Picking up Oreo (my rabbit) from M.'s house and having him pee on me during the 5 minute ride home.

28. Mr. Hope and I playing Tetris and trying to beat each other's scores day in and day out.

29. Watching my dad build o…

food for my friends: Buckeye Candies

Buckeye Candies

18 oz of Peanut butter
1 stick of margarine (softened)
1 pound of powdered sugar

Mix these ingredients in a food processor until well blended. Roll into small balls about the size of a medium sized gum ball. Place the balls on wax paper on cookie sheet and place in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes after rolling them into balls.

With a double boiler, mix 1/2 pound of semi sweet chocolate chips with paraffin wax. You can buy the wax at any grocery store and usually it’s cut into four blocks within one pack. I take one of the blocks and cut it into thirds and just use one third per batch.

I take the balls with a tooth pick and dip/ roll them in the chocolate and set them back onto the wax paper to dry. When dipping, be sure to leave a portion of the peanut butter exposed so that it looks like a buckeye! Once the entire tray is done, I return them to the fridge so that the chocolate hardens.

Personally I like to invite people over to help and make like 3 to 5 batches at …

weekend wrap up...

Saturday: The beginning: Ovarian Caner Benefit.
The middle: Just getting started.
Middle to end: Just a little slap & tickle.

Wrapping up (sorry for the offensive finger). Maybe you just had to be there to enjoy this moment. How are you feeling? "O.K."

Sunday: Grilling hat? Check.

Zipper pulling. (Rhys, t.w.i.t.'s son (or Rhys Monkey) and friend Stephanie.)
Reese (better known as Reese Cup), playing Jenga or as my garage sale version is called "Tumbling Towers".

Don't worry, Nate's got everything else. (As seen with: Pack n Play, Cooler (with beer), two camping chairs and the missing camera. We had a great time with everyone! Glad we were able to spend time in the great weather together. Thank you for coming to our cookout! We hope to do it again soon! Monday was spent cleaning, doing laundry and sleeping. Lots of sleeping.

my 100 scenes & things... Part I

I love the idea behind this and a new found friend did this to reflect on her life for her thirtieth birthday and I loved reading the list as it developed. Her list was inspired by Mighty Girl; what a great idea!!

I however am posting this to commemorate my 100th post on my blog. 100 posts! Can you believe it? I mean you have been reading my blog for a short time now and I'm already to my 100th post... so here goes...

For your enjoyment, here are my 100 scenes and things that I hope will flash before my eyes before my time here is done. Note: These are in random order as that will probably be how they present themselves.

Numbers 1 through 20:

1. My first time driving in the red lumina with my dad, going up South Section Line for ice cream and coming home.

2. Reminding my mom to breathe deeply after her surgery for the removal of her ovarian cancer.

3. Playing with the many train sets in my grandpa's basement.

4. Mr. Hope and I laying on the living room floor of completely empty…

drinking...

Today I noticed that I might have a drinking problem. No, not that kind of drinking. As seen below: 1 glass of water, an "Ale 8 1" brought to us from Kentucky (apparently containing more caffine than a Mountain Dew) and a cup of coffee (Starbucks coffee cut with 1/4 water and 3 creamers). Do you see this as a problem?

thursday

Things to do on Thursday...

After writing these for a few weeks, I've now come to realize that you probably don't give a *bleep* about what I'm doing and what I need to do. Then I remind myself that I'm not writing this blog to please my readers, however I'm (mostly) writing this for myself and it's fun to see what the on-lookers think about what's going on...

Anyway, my things for thursday (as I was saying)...

1. Babysit

2. Clean bathrooms

3. Wash sheets, towels & clothes

4. Water all of the newly planted items

5. Make a list of items to purchase for this weekend's parties.

6. Watch (or remind Lori to DVR) the 2 hour finale of Grey's Anatomy!!!!

ups and downs...

Many people that are having issues (or have had issues) becoming pregnant can either relate to the message in this song or may have even seen this video before. (There are several people that have this as a post on their blogs.) It's something that I just watched for the first time today and it just kinda hit home. Just having a down day...

I wanna know what it's like to bring a dream to life... someday this will happen for me and I realize that. Some days are just harder than others...

my green thumb...

Our little landscaping work seems to be taking us a lot longer than we originally thought. It's been fun but it just takes some time and money that haven't really been plentiful lately. You've seen the gas prices around here, right?

So here you see are green velvet boxwoods that line the front of the deck, a long the right side of the deck and then along the house to the a/c unit. There are 9 total all purchased in a one gallon container with the hopes that they will grow rapidly and be beautiful mounds next year (right?).

This is a Multi-Stem River Birch tree that we planted in April. It seems to be holding up but with the wind tunnel that surrounds our house, we are pretty sure that the support stakes are going to be on this tree for a while. Toby made it in this photo. I think he thought it was a game... how fast can I run around these new beds a flowers without getting yelled at... He had his tire in his mouth the entire time, hoping that I would put the camera down an…

food from friends on friday: Tortellini Dish

Here's the tortellini, pea and ham dish:

1/2 cup (1/2 of 8-oz. tub) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese Spread
1 cup milk
1/4 cup KRAFT 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese

1-1/2 pkg. (6 oz. each) OSCAR MAYER 96% Fat Free Smoked Ham, chopped (about 2 cups)

MIX cream cheese spread, milk and Parmesan cheese in large saucepan. Gently stir in tortellini and peas; cover.
COOK on medium-low heat 5 min., stirring occasionally.
STIR in ham; cook an additional 3 to 5 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally.

This came to my courtesy of Whitney.

Enjoy!

onto the 20th...

So for some reason, I had it in my head that if we "took a month off" that it would just happen. I did a great job of not watching the days, not taking clomid, not testing and just trying to stay busy. We continued to try/practice but obviously nothing clicked or stuck.

So with af here today, we're onto cycle # 20!

On the upside, flip cup will be much more enjoyable this Memorial Day!

Also, my things for thursday:

1. Meet with Adam about our basement quote.

2. Water back-yard landscaping. ** It rained, so I didn't have to do it by hand... **

3. Kitty litter cleaning.

4. Laundry.

excitement in c-bus...

While coming back from our lunch break we noticed that there were several people crowded around our office and all over the parks. While stopped at a stop light we asked one of the spectators what was going on... They stated that the Barnum & Bailey Circus animals were going to be marching through shortly on their way to Nationwide for their performance.

So what did any normal person do? Ran in, told the whole office and then lined up along the street to see the march.

Here are few pictures that were documented just 30 minutes ago during their march...

Here's the article from the C-bus Dispatch:

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus comes to town this week and is preceded by the animal walk Tuesday.

Elephants, horses and zebras will walk from the circus train to Nationwide Arena, where shows will be presented Thursday through Sunday.

The 3-mile walk begins at Goodale Boulevard and Grandview Avenue, continuing east on Goodale to Neil Avenue, south on Neil to Natio…

weekend wrap up...

Friday Night: Weather was rainy, but we went to the nurseries anyway. Lori and I were searching for something to help spruce up her front yard. After some help from the nursery shop worker, we pulled out a couple ideas, she purchased them and tested them when we got back to her place. We also grabbed some chinese food and drove around the neighborhood trying to see about more ideas.

S. was at the Semi Final Stanley Cup game for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He met his brother at their friend's house, outside of Pittsburgh and headed down to the game about 5pm. The said that the stadium was out of control and luckily the Penguins won 4 to 2. What a great game! Oh and it was a white out! Good times had by all!

Saturday night: Lori, N., Rhys and I headed back to the nurseries to return the option that didn't work and look at other options. I purchased a few things for my yard and a mother's day gift for my mother in law. When we were done I worked in the yard all day, planting peren…

thanks mom...

On Mother's Day, I thought I would post for my mom!

To My Mom,

Thank you for the unconditional love you have shared, the strength that you have shown and the hugs that you have given.

Thank you for bringing me into the world and loving me even in my nasty teenage years.

Thank you for being my friend and for always being there when I need you.

Thank you being so strong and fighting you cancer head on. Thank you God for keeping my mom here on earth and for making her body healthy. I am thankful for everyday that I can pick up the phone and reach you (mom) for anything.

Thank your for not judging me for my actions and telling me how you truly feel even when it's not what I want to hear.

Thanks for always my rock.

Thank you for being my mom.

I love you!

Jill

Happy Mother's Day 2008

food from my mom on friday: Crock Pot Mac

Crock Pot Mac n' Cheese

3 to 4 cups of elbow macaroni (cooked)

Sauce:
2 cups of evaporating milk (16 oz can)
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons minced onion
2 tablespoons of butter/margarine
1 egg (beaten) - optional
2 cups of cubed cheese (cheddar or velvetta) - I used Velvetta.

Cook sauce in crockpot for 1 hour on high. Add cooked Mac n Cheese on low for 3 to 5 hours.

Enjoy!

"your feet will {HATE you, I mean} thank you"

I think t.w.i.t. said it best... but here's another version of the same damn flip.

It's summer time, warm, sometimes hot and unbearable... what's the first thing you think of? Flips with fur! Of course... NOT! Who does that? Who willingly buys these things? I mean, I would probably buy them as a joke or maybe wear them in the winter as slippers, but not in the dead of summer.

These are definitely fugly. If you buy these, I hope some fur-hater attacks your feet with red paint to protest your fugly flips.

Just my opinion.

As seen on an advertisement on YAHOO....

cork it

On sweet jessie's site there is a great way to decorate for cheap. I think it's a great way to bring color and shape into a room for a little cost.

Check this studio out too for some great ideas for other ways of decorating using bold color and crafty ideas. These are from soule mama and her great way of thinking/using things!

I'll post a picture of my creation once it is complete!

Happy Wednesday!

little victories

Reflecting on my current cycle and the thoughts that have been crossing my mind these last couple weeks have all been pretty peaceful. It allows me to understand the control I have over my body and the mental stat in which I've trained it to be in this time around. I truly feel like a different person, taking a day at a time and not trying to focus on what I don't have.

We were watching SCRUBS (quite possibly one of the greatest shows ever written) last night, I heard this song and I can't stop thinking about it. They bring such unique and new artist on their show that really have amazing sounds. As we were watching the end of the show Matt Nathanson started playing Little Victories. Hearing this song made me think about all of my "little victories" that I've accomplished along my journey to becoming a mom.

Anyway, here's the song. It's short but it has a great sound and a fab message...

Happy 30th Birthday Lori!!!

To my new found neighbor and friend. Here's wishing you a day filled with many sightings of your shirtless neighbor, tent popping, and hill climbing fun.

Happy 30th!! I hope you have a great day!

Happy Cinco de Mayo, too! =)

fertility friend...

I have signed up for a daily email from this site and so far it has sent some really great information. Today's email was really eye opening for me. I'm sure it's something that I've heard before but in the past months, I've obviously forgotten about. So here goes:

Hi Jill,

Getting pregnant may sometimes feel like the luck
of the draw. Some people are fortunate to have
success on the first try. Others don't get that
positive pregnancy test until months of trying
have come and gone. Still some people may wait
years to get pregnant and have to endure batteries
of fertility tests only to find out that nothing
is in fact wrong with either partner.

On any given month, your chances of conceiving a
baby are approximately 20 percent. That means that
if everything is fine and working great, you have
a 20 percent chance of success. Throw in an illness
like a viral infection or an unusual high stress
level from your job or poor eating habits due to
too many …

food from friends for friday: Corn + Bean Dip

1 can of sweet corn (drained)

1 can of black beans (drained)

1 package of shreaded cheese - I only use half of it, but do this to your liking

I usually use 3 tomatos - and yes, just the outer layer : )

1 jar of ranch dressing - its not the dip, its just near the dip - I pour this to taste also, never a whole jar, just enough to taste it, but not make everything swim in it :)

This dip is sooo good and so addicting, you won't be able to stop eating it!

Enjoy!

From Sheena.
